He didn’t just capture video footage of our day, he put clips together in a beautiful and artistic way to create a story about us as a couple that included our most favorite memories from our wedding. He is organized and professional; we spoke on the phone a few times before the wedding so he could get to know us as a couple and make sure we were on the same page about the timeline of the day. “I am employed at the Carroll County Health Department and I have worked on several projects over the past 5 years with Shawn and I highly recommend him and Swehland Productions. I work with substance abuse prevention, so the topics that Shawn has had to deal with on the video’s he has created for the Health Department have been of a very delicate and serious nature, with the end result of changing people’s lives.

Most recently, Shawn wrote, video graphed and directed the movie “Heroin Still Stills” for the Office of the State’s Attorney of Carroll County and the Carroll County Health Department. I knew Shawn was the right person for this project because of his complete devotion to his work, but also because of his compassionate nature and ease with dealing with people. “Heroin Still Kills” quickly became much more than a project for Shawn, his entire heart and soul were thrown into every scene, every shoot, every interview he conducted. Shawn wanted to be sure he represented the message parents who have lost a child wanted to share, or a lesson that someone in recovery has learned or the struggles of family members. Shawn conducted focus groups to not only gather information for the video, but to gain a better understanding and feel the chaos of addiction and the effects it has on loved ones and society. This was way beyond the call of duty, but he wanted to do this monumental educational piece justice in the hopes of creating a message that not just young people, but any one who saw this movie, could understand substance abuse, how easily it can start and hope for the future.
